Painting New England Architecture (doors and windows) in Watercolor - Online Class

Learn to paint the unique beauty of the historic New England architecture in this fun and creative watercolor workshop. Students will learn elements of composition and perspective as it relates to the subject, as well as painting texture and natural materials, and how to render the unique beauty of light and shadow in a realistic manner. The class will begin with a demonstration by the instructor followed by class painting. A critique and class discussion will be held at the end of the session. This workshop is open to all levels of painting ability.

Robert O'Brien has been painting in the watercolor medium for over 45 years. He is a signature member of the American, National, New England, among others, Watercolor Societies.  He is a full time artist and instructor with over 35 years of teaching experience. He teaches workshops throughout the Northeast, all over the U.S. and abroad.

Plein Air Watercolor Exploration

Experience/Prerequisites:   None.  All levels welcome.
Age Range:  Children (with adult family member) to Adult

Plein Air is drawing and painting landscapes directly from observations.  This class will cover the basics of drawing form, shapes and composition as well as color mixing with watercolor.  The class is taught at the home/studio of artist Kathryn Field.  The class will start with a morning in the studio with drawing demonstrations and basic watercolor techniques.  In the afternoon we will move outside, and students will be able to find an intimate or distant landscape to paint in watercolor.  There is a covered deck facing the mountains where students can work in case of rain.  Please bring a bag lunch to enjoy on the porch. 

Provided by instructor: Canvases, brushes and paint. 
Students should bring:  A bag lunch .    

Kathryn Field is a practicing painter and sculptor and established Field Fine Art in 2015.  She has taught for over 30 years at University, Colleges, and Holderness School.
