SHI 16 Introduction to Metal Clay

In this 2-day workshop, students will be introduced to the versatile medium of metal clay.  Students will be shown the tools and techniques required to work with silver metal clay.   Texturing, stamping, hollow forms and setting fire able stones will be demonstrated.  After firing, students will be shown how to finish their pieces and add color by both patina and a few alternative color techniques.

Come learn to coil, wrap, tinker, crochet, knit, twist and much more to make all kinds of fabulous jewelry and accessories. Wire is not just confined to jewelry but can be used to make sculpture as well. Bring your best creativity and learn how to make beautiful pieces of art that are low-tech and require only a few tools. It’s a skill you can take home and do again!

Joy Raskin is a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen and has exhibited her work throughout the United States, Ireland, and New Zealand, showcasing both her jewelry and flatware designs.
