Needle Felt a Cupcake Trinket Box

It may look like a cupcake but if you lift off the top you'll find a little cup to tuck your treasures, trinkets or a special note to someone special. We'll needle felt the cupcake, add some yummy looking felt on top and then add a hinge to connect the top to the cup.
Provided by instructor. Students will be using sharp felting needles which are safe when used properly.
Patsy Frasier has been a mixed media crafter from childhood. She has stepped out of the workforce to follow her own creative path. She has lived in NH since birth and Moultonborough since 2004. Every piece she creates is one of a kind and nothing is mass produced. The core of her creativity is to "Focus on Fun" which she does crafting a piece or offering a workshop so others can "Focus on Fun" too!

Hand-made Paper Jewelry (2 Session Class)

Wednesdays, July 27 & August 3: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Age Range: 10-16
Learn the art of hand rolled paper beads. We will learn different methods of cutting colorful paper to create different bead shapes. Week one, we will cut the paper and hand roll the beads which will then be glazed over the week. Class two we will come back together to make a finished necklace with our hand-made beads and other colorful beads that will complement the beads we made.

Ralph Watson is a graduate of Mass College of Art where he received a BFA in Art Education. He started his teaching career teaching art in Boston, MA before getting a Masters in Special Education and School Leadership. Ralph served as a Middle School Principal for 15 years before retiring. He is the owner and creator of The Paper Bead and brings in work to several juried Arts Festivals throughout New England.
Treasure Island Needle-felt - Family Class
(2 Session Class)

Mon, August 8: 10AM-1PM and Tue, August 9: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Tuition: $85 - Family of 4 (smaller and larger families are welcome but larger families may need to purchase some extra materials)
Age Range: Children 3+ plus at least one adult
How would your Treasure Island look? A class for families, including children 3 years of age and up. Each group will be able to create with needle-felt, a play-scape or diorama, approximately 18" x 24" in size. Materials and 2 felting kits to keep are included plus felting tools will be available to use during class. In the first session, you will create the island and some features such as a pond, flowers, a shelter and paths. On day 2, you'll finish up with trees, rocks or bushes, an animal and a person or two. Everyone works on different parts and then combines everything into one interactive project.
Provided by instructor. Needle-felting uses sharp barbed needles which can be used safely.
Diane Cook Johnson, owner of Soft Touch Farm and leader of Club Sandwich 4-H in Center Sandwich, NH has enjoyed making crafts and working with fabric and fiber all her life. She has been needle-felting and teaching the craft since the spring of 2005. She has taught over 2,000 people from ages 4 to 101+ how to felt.
