Handcrafted Pendant on Chain with Alice Carroll
Saturday, August 7:  10:30 am - 4 pm
Tuition:  $90 – Materials Fee $15 
Experience Level:   Beginner to Intermediate
Age Range:  14+



During this one-day class, each student will design and fabricate a beautiful pendant to hang on a hand forged linked chain.  Through demonstration and plenty of work time, students will learn the proper techniques and use of tools to create their design.  This class will cover cold connections, forging, sawing and filing.

MATERIALS
Provided by instructor: all tools and supplies
Students should bring the following: 
Sketch book or paper and pencil 

INSTRUCTOR BIO
Alice Carroll received her BFA from Maine College of Art and an MFA from Rochester Institute of Technology. After receiving her MFA, she was selected to be an Artist in Residence at Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina, where she acted as the Metals Studio Coordinator. At the end of her residency, she returned to Maine and began teaching workshops.

In 1998, she became the Head of the Metals Department at Heartwood College of Art in Biddeford. In 2003, she joined Sanctuary Arts as the metals instructor and later began teaching at River Tree Arts. As a certified teacher of art in the state of Maine, she has had the opportunity to teach workshops at several locations, including Kennebunk Public Schools, York County Community College, and in many private forums.

Alice continues to produce and sell her work, exhibits nationally and is in many private collections. She has been published in Tim McCreight's book, Jewelry: Fundamentals of Metalsmithing, as well as many articles. She uses her classes as inspiration and considers teaching classes an art form, enjoying every moment in the studio with students.
